OU ASDA is doing a mentorship program that gives pre-dental students the opportunity to be paired with current dental students! If you are interested in having a mentor, send an e-mail to uco.pds@gmail.com by Friday, April 1st and include your e-mail address and phone number.
They are planning on having an event in April that will give you the chance to meet with your mentor and other dental students! The details will be announced.

Hello Pre-Dental Society members,
We have a few very important announcements for you!
Our next general meeting will be held on Friday, March 25th at 2:00 PM, so mark your calendars! We will meet in room 313 of Howell Hall. Dr. Michael Chandler will be our guest speaker. Dr. Chandler graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 2000. After graduation, Dr Chandler completed a General Practice Residency at the Va Medical Center in Oklahoma City for one year, followed by three years of service in the National Health Service Corps where he provided dental care for those less fortunate. Dr Chandler has completed several hundred hours of continuing dental education above the state and local requirements. Dr. Chandler is committed to staying current with the changing pace of modern dentistry. Dr Michael Chandler’s practice is located in Edmond Oklahoma, where he resides with his family including wife Mandy, daughter Mykal, and son Chaz. Dr. Chandler wants to answer your questions, so please message any questions you have for him or topics that you would like to hear about to uco.pds@gmail.com!

Registration for the Pre-Dental Clinical Simulation Course IS OPEN!

Welcome to the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. It is our pleasure to have you on board for the annual pre-dental clinical simulation course. This course has been designed for pre-dental students to gain insight and a hands-on approach to learning about what the clinical portion of dental school entails. More importantly it is an opportunity to begin to develop the hand skills that ...are necessary to succeed. It is an opportunity to find out "if dentistry is for you."
This course will reveal the art and science behind dentistry. Students that complete this course will have a better idea of what it takes to be a dental student, gain confidence, and become a more competitive applicant.
Students attending the predental clinical simulation course will have the opportunity to learn the following in a state of the art pre-clinical simulation lab:
- Use various dental instruments.
- Use waxing instruments to wax teeth to proper form and function.
- Use a high speed handpiece to prepare class cavity preparations.
- Restore cavity preparations with amalgam.
- Restore cavity preparations with composite.
- Take impressions of typodonts and pour them in stone.
- Develop hand skills and a working knowledge of clinical dentistry.
- Take part in a presentation given by the OU COD admissions office.
- Have access to current dental students attending OU COD for a Q&A session.
- Take a practical and written examination for certification of attendance.

Registration to attend the 2011 ODA Annual Meeting in Tulsa is also open!
The ODA Annual Meeting is by far the largest dental meeting in the state! Join over 1,500 dentists and other dental team members as they participate in continuing education, networking, and social events throughout the meeting!
