Volunteer Opportunities

Hello Pre-Dental Society members!

Here are some volunteer opportunities that are quickly approaching.

- Goodwill “GoodGuides” Mentoring Program
GoodGuides engages adult volunteers who can commit to supporting, guiding and being a friend to a young person for a period of at least one year. GoodGuides mentors are good listeners, encouraging, supportive, flexible, patient, tolerant & respectful of individual
differences.

What can you expect if you're interested?
* Pre-service & ongoing training to prepare you to meet the program goals.
* Assistance in matching you with a youth who shares your interests.
* Ongoing support from the Program Manager and Master Mentor.
* Assistance in troubleshooting problems as they arise.
* A safe place to meet your mentee with staff available to help.
* Help in developing projects and activities to do with your mentee
* Staff support in completing all reports for the program.

Training will be offered to all those who are interested on Tuesday, Feb. 16th from 11 am - 1 pm and 6 pm - 8 pm in the VSLC (NUC 212). UCO is the first university GoodGuides is approaching, so please give some consideration to being a mentor to a deserving kid. If you're interested in signing up for the program & for training, or for more information, please contact Liz Tate, GoodGuides Master Mentor @ 405-278-7140 or ltate@okgoodwill.org

- Yoga for Kids/Mandala Arts program Volunteer
The INTEGRIS Health James L. Hall, Jr. Center for Mind, Body and Spirit is looking for a volunteer for the Yoga for Kids/Mandala Arts program. The Yoga for Kids/Mandala Arts program is for children 8 to 12 years old and teaches children to pay attention to the stress in their bodies and learn to clam themselves when they are angry or frustrated, before a test at school or even help them go to sleep at night. Creating Sand Mandalas teach kids self expression through the calming experience of creating art with sand, allowing children to be present and in the moment. These classes will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, January 27 through March 17 and another session from March 24 through May 12, at 4900 N. Portland, Suite 102. Class size is limited to 10 children per session. The volunteer would help with room set up, clean up, keeping the children on task, taking pictures, playing games, etc.

As a volunteer you don't need to know anything about yoga but you do need to love children and come with an open heart. Please contact Kerry Ann Richards for more information at: (405) 943-3921
